I'm a student pursuing a doctoral degree in late medieval history. My main interests include but are not limited to Latin, Italian, cultural theory, educational curriculum, historiography, cognitive processes, language-theory, gender relations and THE WESTERN CANON (mwahaha); i am not particularly interesting, avant-garde or risque; My main hobbies include the exciting activities of cooking, baking, going to the gym, eating green apple-caramel lollipops, restaurant reviewing and acting as child-like and sassy as possible. I keep these entries from the years of my life - no matter how i feel about them today - available because i find it useful to revisit events i now interpret differently. My name is heather, i'm of Montreal and i was born in the nefarious, ominous year 1984.

Combatting Cold Feet

Conversations from the Train

Yes, I understand your son is only nine and that you are from South Africa, but if he’s going to ask when he’s going to get to see an eskimo on the train going to Toronto and you’re not going to correct him – I am NOT a bad person for letting you know that [...]

In the event of an apocalypse, we’re dying first - but we’ll be well-fed!

Last night at 5:15pm a jackass dropped a suitcase full of rocks at the central hub of our metro system, told an STM employee it was a bomb and took off. At 9pm the three metro lines finally returned to normal service. [read more]
I had planned on picking three friends (Z, E and J) up [...]

“Fit For Christ”

“Fit for Christ,” a community on Sparkpeople of “Women who are dedicated to lose weight for Christ.” Because quite clearly Christ cares if you’re losing weight for him or not. There is religiousity and then there is ridiculousness… this is clearly the latter.
Discussion threads in this group include: Scripture for Weight Loss and Prayer Requests [...]

Guest Blogger: Creationism? Evolution? Intelligent Design?

As a man of faith and education, I find it very frustrating sometimes to listen to people who have neither attributes spout loud declarations about important and serious ideas like the origin of mankind. Worse still to hear them mouth off either for or against a specific point of view that they misattribute to [...]

Scam Artists

I am looking for some freelance work to augment my income and applied to an ad on craigslist for someone to do data entry at home.
You will find below my interaction with a scam artist. After this email exchange i took the following steps: notified craigslist of the abuse, requested a money transfer from their [...]

More What Were You Thinking

Sitting at my desk (i have three walls and my desk faces out onto the wall - i can call it an office!) minding my own business yesterday i was confronted with a sight that one just shouldn’t be subjected to before nine in the morning: Enter middle-aged woman about fifteen pounds heavier than i [...]

What Were You Thinking?

One of my fellow employees is walking around today in a jean skirt, massive heels and a thin, white cotton t-shirt. She would look really good - if she weren’t wearing a red bra under the shirt. I mean really - and it’s a t-shirt bra, not even something pretty or sexy worthy of showing [...]

Chances of Winning the Lottery

I haven’t played the lotto in years, but since mid-June, i’ve found myself drawn to purchase 649 tickets. I have this elaborate plan of what i would do would i win, and somehow, the $4 a week (i play both draws) seems worth the dreaming possibilities. I think i would invest my winnings in real [...]

Bleeding Heart vs. Spiteful Sprite

Image via Wikipedia
As Zach so aptly put it yesterday, hell hath no fury like a Heather scorned. A rather unfortunate and even unbelievable turn of events occurred yesterday which brought out the absolute worst side of my personality. I document here for your questioning eyes the battle between Bleeding Heart (aka. Addy Robati, the owner [...]
